Test repository for GitHub Copilot instructions, skills, prompts, and custom agents.
.github/copilot-instructions.md
Use for rules that should influence almost every task in the repository.
Examples:
.github/instructions/*.instructions.md
Use for rules that apply only to specific file types or paths.
Examples:
.github/skills/<skill-name>/SKILL.md
Use for reusable task-specific workflows or knowledge.
Skills should be loaded only when relevant.
Example:
safe-refactorA skill augments the current agent with extra instructions.
.github/agents/<agent-name>.md
Use for specialized roles with their own instructions and tool boundaries.
Examples:
reviewerdeep-analyzerAn agent performs a specific kind of task and can have a deliberately restricted toolset.
.github/prompts/*.prompt.md
Use for reusable entry points for common tasks.
Example:
safe-refactor.prompt.mdA prompt can combine a short user command with an existing skill or workflow.
This repository also contains a tool-independent project rollout standard:
docs/PROJECT_ROLLOUT.md
The rollout standard defines how projects should be:
The standard applies regardless of whether work is performed manually or with an AI assistant.
GitHub Copilot instructions, skills, agents, and prompts are optional mechanisms that can help apply the standard, but they are not the standard itself.
Location:
.github/skills/project-rollout/SKILL.md
Purpose:
Apply the rollout standard to the current project change while keeping scope and context focused.
The skill checks, where applicable:
.wikijs-publish.json;The skill does not commit, tag, push, merge, or release unless explicitly authorized.
Location:
.github/prompts/project-rollout.prompt.md
Purpose:
Provide a reusable entry point for checking whether the current change is ready for rollout.
Example:
/project-rollout
The prompt uses the project-rollout skill and the canonical rules in:
docs/PROJECT_ROLLOUT.md
For documentation that belongs to a Git project:

wikijs-content
The project repository remains the source of truth.
Wiki.js is the central readable knowledge base.
wikijs-content is the backup and history of the Wiki.js representation.
Do not synchronize Wiki.js or wikijs-content automatically back into the project repository.
Projects explicitly select centrally published Markdown files in:
.wikijs-publish.json
Example:
{
"locale": "en",
"pages": [
"README.md",
"docs/PROJECT_ROLLOUT.md"
]
}
The standard Wiki.js workflow runs automatically for relevant Markdown or publication-config changes.
The central publisher should be referenced by a fixed released version.
Current baseline:
wikijs-publish v0.7.1
Prefer:
Copilot automatically discovers repository instructions, workspace skills, prompts, and custom agents.
Useful commands:
/skills - show available workspace skills/agents - show available custom agents/safe-refactor - run the reusable safe-refactor promptExample:
/safe-refactor Refactor the add function in demo.js.
A custom agent can also be invoked explicitly.
Example:
@reviewer Review the current changes.
Or:
@deep-analyzer Analyze how this function relates to similar code elsewhere in the repository.
After adding a new skill during an existing CLI session, reload skills with:
/skills reload
List discovered skills with:
/skills list
Custom agents can be invoked explicitly.
Example:
@reviewer Review the current changes.
Example:
@deep-analyzer Analyze how this function relates to similar code elsewhere in the repository.
Skills can also be selected automatically when the task matches their description.
For example, a normal request such as:
Refactor the add function in demo.js.
can automatically activate:
skill(safe-refactor)
when Copilot determines that the skill applies.
Prefix a command with ! to execute it directly in the shell.
Examples:
!git status --short
!git diff
!pwd
The repository is designed around progressive context loading.
The goal is to avoid repository-wide discovery when a task can be completed with a small amount of targeted context.
Location:
.github/skills/safe-refactor/SKILL.md
Purpose:
Perform small behavior-preserving refactors without introducing unrelated changes, dependencies, validation, or error handling.
Location:
.github/agents/reviewer.md
Purpose:
Review only current working-tree changes with minimal context.
The reviewer should:
Location:
.github/agents/deep-analyzer.md
Purpose:
Analyze relationships between explicitly named code and directly related implementations.
The deep analyzer is intentionally allowed more context than the reviewer, but its available tools are restricted to:
It should:
Do not put every rule into copilot-instructions.md.
Use the narrowest appropriate mechanism:
This keeps the default Copilot context small while still making richer workflows available when needed.
